Club Season

What is Club Season?

Club season is a competitive 6 month travel season that has tryouts in early fall (typically August) and then begins practice in November and continues with practice and tournaments until April of the following year.

ATTENDING TRYOUTS IS MANDATORY FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING ON AN OPU CLUB TEAM. We do our best to place everyone on a team and make as many teams as we can while still being competitive. However, not everyone is guaranteed to make a club season team.

OPU offers teams from 10u-18u and up to 3 levels of teams per age group. Our top level teams are called Mizuno teams-they have the heaviest travel/practice schedule throughout the season and have a goal of trying to qualify for USAV National Championships. Our mid level teams are called Power teams-they have a lighter practice/travel schedule. Our beginner-level teams are called Thunder teams-they have the lightest practice and travel schedule.

All three levels of teams have different tuition price points ranging from ~$1,950 to ~$4,600. We offer 3 payment options- 1) pay in full with cash or check and receive a 5% discount, 2) pay in full with a credit card (3.5% service fee) and receive a 5% discount, or 3) a payment plan online by credit card.

Post Tryout Process/Responsibilities

After tryouts are complete, we will sit down with coaches for each age group and work on forming teams. After we form teams, coaches call or send messages to the contact information given in the online registration completed for tryouts and players and families are required to make a decision to join or not join the OPU team they are offered within 24 hours. We start by forming our Adidas teams and getting commitments from them, and then form our Power and Thunder teams.

After accepting their position on the team, parents are REQUIRED to attend a mandatory meeting the following weekend at a specified time to fill out all required paperwork, select payment options, etc. This process is very time sensitive-if you are unable to make the meeting at the scheduled date and time, you must contact laurenopu@gmail.com to set up a time to meet during the week before the scheduled team meeting.

15s-18s teams: TBD
10s-14s teams:TBD

***Failure to attend this meeting will result in your player's uniforms not being ordered on time and risk not having them for the first tournament.***

Club Communication

All communication from the OPU office regarding tryouts, paperwork, meeting times, etc will be sent through SportsEngine-which is what you will have to make an account with in order to register for tryouts.

You can always find messages sent by logging in to SportsEngine on a desktop and clicking the envelope in the top right corner. We highly recommend that you also go to account settings, click the communication preferences tab, and make sure that your email and phone number are checked to receive alerts from Ocala  Power United so that whenever a message is sent out you are aware and able to see it without logging into SportsEngine.
